On the one hand, they face an alienation from their academic peers. Fellow department members marvel that someone so intelligent can actually believe the Bible or hold to the Christian faith. On the other hand, fellow Christians often question why someone so gifted has chosen to work at a place as godless as a secular university. (Few Christians express it so blatantly but the sentiment is often communicated with crystal clarity).
And it’s not just academics who face this double loneliness. As I’ve gotten to know more and more Christians who like to wrestle deeply with intellectual issues, the scourge of anti-intellectualism, from the Christian side, and anti-Christian sentiment, from a variety of other sides, makes for a painful struggle.
This blog seeks to address this struggle, connect fellow thoughtful Christians, and encourage the love of God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind.
